Except traveling traditionally in the beaches and popular places in the trains or cars, there is a fantastic idea to make some dynamic change by changing the place as well as the mode of transport. Western Finds
For those with a western destination and a local experience in mind, Sun River, located just outside of Bend, Ore., is the perfect destination. This resort community has everything, from golf to horseback riding. Moreover, the small community is surrounded by the splendor of the Cascade Mountains and lies in the shadow of the popular ski resort, Mt. Bachelor.
Shaded with beautiful mountain scenery, the area is awesome for those RV owners looking to escape the loneliness of life of the surrounding rivers. The reputed is the Des Chutes River, regarded as the best white water rafting river in Oregon. This scenic river offers novice rafters and experts alike a unique view of the area from the raging rapids.
For those not yet ready to brave the rapids, Benham Falls can be considered as one of the closest attractions to the Sun River resort community. More than 6,000 years ago, volcanic activity pushed in on the river, forming the majestic falls that exist today.
This volcanic activity is visible at Lava Lands, a National Volcanic Monument consisting of more than 50,000 acres of lakes, lava flows and other phenomenal geologic features. The lava- hardened park offers fabulous views of the Cascade Mountains. Take the recreational vehicle and enjoy the view.
A Midwest Quest
The Midwest has a wealth of beauty all its own. One of these Midwestern gems, Petoskey, Mich., is located on Little Traverse Bay on Lake Michigan. The marina atmosphere and way of life has sustained residents for hundreds of years. The rich history of the area is evident of Victorian architecture. A walking tour is the perfect way to view 500 Victorian-era buildings.
In Petoskey, the Marina District shopping area has more than 45,000 square feet of shopping heaven. From maritime and nautical art galleries showcasing the beauty of the area, to delicious restaurants that will satisfy the appetite of the fiercest shopper.
But RV visitors come to do more than the strolling the streets in search of a good bargain. This marina resort area caters to shoppers and golfers alike. Michigan is full of public golf courses, with the Petoskey/ Boyne City area harboring many of these great links.
